I assued it's suppose to accelerate my web experience... http://www.boogieland.org/ReadBlog/Google-Web-Accelerator.aspx I too have used web accelerator with little knowledge about how it accually worked until I did a little more research and came to realize the following. The web accelerator is not actually a powerboost for your internet experience as far as actually transmit speed is concerned. What it really does is store web site information from your computer's cache, which is where website information is stored, etc. Basically, instead of your computer having to search the web for a site that you intend to visit once typed in, it stores this info in your cache from a web site after you visit it once so that when you revisit a site it automatically brings it up faster because the gateway address, etc. is connected to directly without any search time having to be spent bringing it up, if that makes any sense? It's difficult to explain. Everytime you visit a new site you will not experience the faster connect time, only when you revisit a site your cpu has already found and stored info for. When you do speed test from a site as you did, info is sent randomly from many different server sources which will not allow the accelerator to store any info as it does on a basic web site, it's just the way information is transmitted. Another words, it works like a personal proxy, as IE or FireFox would if caching is turned on. I would be fine with that except the part that it limits the bandwidth down to <500kbps. That's the part I am not happy with... Maybe it would help someone using dialup. Or maybe Google should think about not limiting the bandwidth. 2/10/2008 5:03:08 PM
